MARK P. DOHERTY
Mark was born and raised in DeKalb, Illinois. Upon graduating with a finance degree from Eastern Illinois University, where he was an Academic All Conference member of the varsity football team, Mark attended Northern Illinois University College of Law. He was a published member of the Law Review, research assistant to his civil procedure professor, law clerk to the General Counsel of the University, and he graduated with academic honors. Thereafter, he was an associate attorney at a law firm in Naperville, Illinois, focusing on the representation of condominium and homeowners associations as well as general civil litigation. Beginning in January 2004, Mark partnered with his father, Tom Doherty, with offices in DeKalb and St. Charles, Illinois. As of 2010, Tom Doherty was elected a Circuit Judge for DeKalb County and left the firm to serve in that capacity.
The Doherty Law Firm focuses primarily on civil litigation; residential, commercial and transaction law; business formation and representation; bank and lending institution representation; estate, trust, and probate matters; land use and development; and condominium and homeowner assocation law. Mark practices primarily in DuPage, Kane, and DeKalb Counties and he is a member of their respective Bar Associations, in addition to the Illinois Bar Association.
On a personal note, Mark is married to Lisa Doherty, who is a school teacher in Wheaton, Illinois, where they reside with their daughter, Madelyn, and son, Sean. Mark enjoys spending time with his family, coaching, and playing music, and he has written, produced, and recorded many full-length albums, most recently under the band name Light Silver Automatic.
